10 Things To Do During The Platinum Jubilee

70 years on the throne - what to do to celebrate?

Her Majesty’s City of London is hosting a wide range of events over the bank holiday weekend, to celebrate her reign, and encourage friendship, community and excitement after a long, locked-down few years. Running from Thursday, 2nd June to Sunday the 5th, London and its Boroughs are flooded with events to mark the Platinum Jubilee in History.

Thursday 2 June

  • Trooping The Colour

Beginning at 10:00am, spectators are able to watch Her Majesty take the salute for some 1400 soldiers and men parade through and around St James’ Park. From Buckingham Palace, along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and back again, the paraders are accompanied by 200 horses, musicians and drummers. This remarkable event can be watched from vantage points all along the route. However, if you don’t want your view restricted by crowds, the BBC is broadcasting the event, and many pubs have pledged to show it on their television screens, for free public viewing. There is also a fly-by from the RAF at 13:00, which the Queen, and the Royal family will be watching from her balcony. The Air Force will take a roundabout route which the public will be able to see, so ensure to take a peek outside, if having a celebratory pint in the local pubs.
